Using Data Exchanges Today
Today, our growing Data Exchange ecosystem enables you to take advantage of the following features:
- Create, modify, and manage your exchanges – with rich, transparent, granular data in Revit, Rhino, and Autodesk Docs (Autodesk Construction Cloud).
- View exchanges in the Autodesk Viewer, enabling stakeholders to visualize and work with shared data even without access to the authoring app.
- Bring in the shared data to apps like Inventor (for primarily geometry data), Rhino (for geometry and property data), Revit (for primarily geometry data), and Microsoft Power Automate (for property data only).
- Leverage exchange APIs and the Geometry Utilities SDK to consume shared exchange data in another app or custom service, as well as access and compare the revision history of an exchange.
In the following developer docs, you will find tutorials, sample apps, and reference material to get you started quickly with reading in data from an existing Data Exchange. We encourage you to start off with our GraphQL tutorials and code samples.
If you would like to learn more about how to create, modify, manage, and view Data Exchanges – for exaample, from an end user application perspective – refer to the following links and guides:
- Join our Connectors Public Beta to create, update, bring in, manage exchanges directly from Revit and Rhino.
- Create, update, and manage exchanges from published Revit models.
- Bring in your exchange data into Inventor, Power Automate, Revit, and Rhino.
Explore and let us know how you might integrate, contribute, and extend the ecosystem so that we can together enhance app interoperability, team collaboration, and automation for the better.
Future Enhancements
We’re not only expanding the above-mentioned features to provide further filtering capabilities when creating and consuming exchanges, but also expanding the number of apps integrated in this exchange ecosystem. Moreover, for developers, we plan to expand our Data Exchange APIs to enable you to create exchanges, and more. Stay tuned for more updates from the team and reach out with any suggestions you might have. The number of apps integrated in this exchange ecosystem.
