About This Beta
Overview
The objective of the public beta release of the Secure Service Account (SSA) API is to gather feedback through practical experimentation with the initial API draft. Our aim is to validate the existing features, evaluate the developer experience, and receive honest feedback to enhance the API and create valuable offerings.
This public beta gives you access to:
- Detailed API documentation
- Support for major APS APIs, including:
- AEC Data Model
- Data Exchange
- Data Management
- Design Automation
- Model Derivative
- ACC (Admin, Docs, Cost, Build, Issues, Forms, and more)
Note: The ability to access the Data Management API using two-legged access tokens will not be disabled during this beta.
Known issues
- ❌ ACC Sheets API – not yet supported for SSA access (beta).
- ⚠️ Admin API (2 endpoints) – no yet supported for two key Admin APIs.
- ❌ Fusion Hubs – service accounts currently not supported.
- ⚠️ Design Automation – currently doesn’t support the management of Workitems with a 3-legged access token. However, you can use SSA 3-legged access tokens to access ACC/BIM360 data.
- ❌ RCW Models – SSA currently does not work with Revit Cloud Workshared (RCW) models. However, you can work around this limitation by publishing the models first (by copying them out of the RCW state). Once published, they will appear as regular Docs files, which can be accessed via SSA.
Behavior notes
- ✅ Multiple Service Accounts per App: You can create multiple SSAs under a single Client ID. This helps to isolate access and assign specific role.
- ⚠️ 10 SSA Limit: Each Client ID supports up to 10 service accounts by default. To increase the number of service account contact Autodesk support.
- ⚠️ If an SSA is left idle for 12 months, then the account is disabled.
- ⚠️ Disable 2-legged access to Data Management & Admin APIs.
- To restrict a Client ID’s access to these APIs via 2-legged access token, a support ticket is required. Once restricted, only SSA access via 3-legged access token is allowed for Data Management and Admin APIs.
