Rhumbix

Driving productivity and cost efficiency through highly actionable and accessible data

Construction

Founded in 2014, Rhumbix empowers companies in the construction industry with digitally collected, standardized, and managed field data that drives productivity and produces more-effective project outcomes. With Rhumbix web-based software, stakeholders can compare projected labor output and budget with actual daily performance, gaining visibility into the factors driving production gains and losses that can help them make timely adjustments to increase profitability.

Challenge

Despite increasing connectivity and cloud-based technology, many aspects of the construction industry remain paper-based, including daily reports, time keeping, change management, time and material tracking, and field reporting. This lag in technology adoption makes it difficult for stakeholders to use data effectively and benefit from what they’ve learned in a timely manner.

How Rhumbix solved it with Forge

The Rhumbix platform does away with paper and makes digitally collected field data broadly available in real time to project stakeholders so that they can see what’s happening daily—guiding their decision-making processes to improve upon performance immediately and save time and money.

Rhumbix’s approach to data works well with Forge’s API-rich focus on data operability and transferability. Rhumbix gathers resource data across all of a project’s subcontractors and feeds that data to Forge’s BIM 360 API, creating repositories of highly actionable data that are currently unavailable to many general contractors and industry stakeholders.

In addition, Rhumbix uses Forge to place collected data in multiple different yet highly compatible locations—such as the intelligent model, document control, workflows, and historical cost data. By combining Rhumbix data with intelligent models, stakeholders can generate historical cost data to inform production and progress, better forecast and estimate project costs and timelines, and help with project control and earned value measurements.

Forge highlights include the following:

  • Reducing duplicate data processing that comes from paper-based processes
  • Making data learning immediately accessible for speedy and effective implementation
  • Creating a longer history of data which extends benefits beyond the project’s completion

"The Forge platform creates a lot of opportunity and cost avoidance by enabling stakeholders to park data in multiple places, alleviate multiple manual workflows, and avoid a lot of duplicate data processing.”—Guy Skillet, VP Construction Innovation, Rhumbix
