Connect the entire production lifecycle with Autodesk Flow

Autodesk Flow will connect people, workflows, and data across the media and entertainment production pipeline for faster content creation in the cloud.

Introducing the first API purpose-built for Autodesk Flow

The Autodesk Flow Graph Engine API is a REST API that allows developers to build custom compute services for media and entertainment. Today these services can automate, accelerate, and move heavy Bifrost effects and simulations processing to the cloud.

Autodesk Flow Graph Engine API benefits and capabilities

Execute better and faster

The Flow Graph Engine API allows concurrent execution of operations like intricate Bifrost for Maya effects and simulations.

Extend in-house capabilities

By extending operations and in-house compute capabilities to the cost efficient cloud you negate the need for personal instances or farms.

Save time and money

Offloading and automating processes to the cloud reduces processing time and frees up local resources to be more efficient.

FAQ

You can take advantage of a 90-day free trial of Autodesk Platform Services (APS) to use the Flow Graph Engine API. You can end your 90-day free trial at any time to begin commercial use. When the trial ends, you will automatically roll into Full Access granting you commercial use of all free and premium APIs. See Autodesk Platform Services Terms of Service Section 3.3 for more information on trial versions.

If you are using premium APIs, like the Flow Graph Engine API, you will begin to incur charges when your trial ends. To use the API without interruption after the trial, you must maintain a positive Flex token balance. If you have already used your 90-day free trial of APS, you will not receive an additional trial with the Flow Graph Engine API, as the trial is for APS as whole, not individual APIs.

Because the Flow Graph Engine API is a premium API, you are charged in Flex tokens or Cloud Credits, if Flex tokens are not yet available in your region, based on consumption. You can find Flow Graph Engine API pricing information here.

You can begin using the Flow Graph Engine API in your Autodesk Platform Services (APS) account. A free trial will automatically begin once you create a new Autodesk Platform Services account. To start building with the API, you must go to the Applications page, click ‘Create application’ and select ‘Flow Graph Engine API’ from the list of available APIs under ‘API Access’. If this is your first-time using APS, you can visit the Getting Started page for instructions on creating an account and your first APS application.

Autodesk Flow is the industry cloud for media and entertainment. It connects workflows, data, and teams across the entire production lifecycle from earliest concept to final delivery.

The Flow Graph Engine API is a REST-based API provided through APS that allows you to automate, accelerate and move heavy Bifrost for Maya effects and simulations processing to the cloud.

The API is targeted at companies dealing with large-scale simulation workloads, such as VFX studios. This includes people like technical directors, pipeline TDs, and studio, freelance and indie software developers.

At present, the API supports Bifrost simulation workflows. You can use the API to execute Bifrost graphs in the cloud and download the outputs produced, which are available for 30 days post-creation.
