Meet the Forge Hackathon 2021 judges

Meet the judges

It's time to meet the judges for this year's Forge Hackathon! These 5 industry experts come to you from Facebook, Honeywell, IMAGINiT, ENG, and L22, and they are just as excited to see your solutions as you are to build them. I know I definitely don't envy them the task of having to choose winners in these 5 incredible categories:

  • Most creative Digital Twin application: How smart or innovative is your digital twin? Is it something no one has ever seen before? Bonus points will be awarded for using the Data Visualization extensions for the Forge Viewer, and for making sure your digital twin is as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.
  • Playing around with XR: Why stick to the physical world when you can play around with multiple realities? Now, reality can be whatever you want it to be—augmented, virtual, or mixed. Come with your favorite headset and earn bonus points for using Forge servers to prep your data, as well as for using GLTF.
  • Thinking outside the box with Autodesk Construction Cloud: Autodesk Construction Cloud connects workflows, teams, and data at every stage of construction to reduce risk, maximize efficiency, and increase profits. If you're tackling this challenge, you'll get to take full advantage of the team that brought you ACC. Bonus points will be awarded for creating a sustainable solution.
  • Most innovative task automation app: How many tedious, manual processes can be automated? Use the Forge Design Automation APIs to help you automate repetitive tasks, freeing up time and energy to focus on more complex workflows.
  • Best 3D game application: We loved your submissions so much last year, this year we want to see more! Get creative with the three.js library and build a fun game we'll never want to put down. Bonus points will be awarded for using the Forge Viewer.

James Senior

Product Manager, AR/VR Content - Facebook

James leads product management for XR productivity & collaboration experiences at Facebook Reality Labs, working with partners to build immersive apps on the Oculus platform. His previous adventures include head of software platform at Sonos, Product Lead for OneDrive and Windows Store.

James is really excited to see apps that help people be more productive in their personal or work lives come out of this year's hackathon. And a fun fact about him, like many of us, he started a new hobby during the pandemic. Woodworking! So far he's built a couple of outdoor chairs!

Basak Keskin

Solution Architect - Honeywell

Basak is a Solution Architect at Honeywell Connected Enterprise with a background in construction and engineering management, and BIM. Basak holds a PhD degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. As a young academic and technology management professional, Basak specializes in orchestration of digital ecosystems encompassing digital twins for complex built environments such as airports. She has various peer-reviewed publications on Airport BIM and asset life cycle management within the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) sector. Basak got involved in BIM-centered digital engineering processes of large international hub airports. Currently, she is responsible of architecting and designing enterprise performance management solutions for varying sizes of portfolios across different verticals including commercial real estate, healthcare, hospitality, telecommunications, logistics, financial services and industrial & manufacturing. In her free time, she likes doing yoga and reformer Pilates.

Basak is very excited to see all the innovative and digitally transforming ideas being tested and deployed throughout the Hackathon. She is very curious how sustainability aspect will be incorporated in Digital Twins and Autodesk Construction Cloud applications.

Viola Cambié

R+D Computational Engineer - Lombardini22

Viola graduated in Building Engineering and Architecture from the Tongji University in Shanghai. She attended post graduate Master in Digital Architecture held by Iuav, University of Venice, where she experienced Arduino, robot KUKA e visual scripting. Coding and parametric design led her to work for advanced architecture and engineering company in Rotterdam and London. Back in Milan she joined Lombardini22, as member of the DDLab team focused in Research and Development projects. Here she develops digital solutions and adopts new methodologies to speed up design processes and conceive unusual ideas. She experienced Autodesk Forge through Hackathon and Accelerators that let her and the R&D team create Digital Twin empowered with real time data from ambient sensors or cross platform connections between the Forge web viewer and Gaming software Unity, used as engine for people flow simulation. She creates prototypes using cutting edge technology which are far from traditional business models such as a web app where object from the BIM model can be directly linked to a Google Sheet spreedsheet throught Forge Viewer.

From this Hackathon I would love to see projects where different technologies and tools are mixed and matched to perform better together taking the best from each one and above all increase the probability to transform sweat into value.

I’m italian and I love the experience of cooking starting from the history of the raw materials. I love listen the production steps and secrets straight from the farmer before testing a food: looks like it acquires its own personality!

Matt Mason

Director, Software Development - Rand Technologies

Matt Mason has over 25 years of experience with Design Automation, from Aerospace and Automotive to Architecture, Engineering and Construction. For the last 13 years it has been focused on the AEC market (mostly Autodesk Revit). He has been developing with Autodesk Forge since 2015.

I always love to see hackathon projects that start with someone’s personal (work) pain points, and wind up with a proof-of-concept of a solution that fundamentally removes that pain.

I am old enough that I used to have to carry computers weighing 50 lbs around the country to show clients.
