Become an early adopter of the new Vault Data APIs
We are excited to introduce the new Vault Data APIs. These REST-ful APIs enable data extensibility from Vault and is now available in the Vault 2025.2 release.
What is Vault?
But before we get into the API, let's learn a little bit about Autodesk Vault.
Autodesk Vault is a product data management (PDM) tool that helps design teams organize, track, and manage design data. Autodesk Vault PDM software helps designers and engineers organize design data, manage documentation, and track revisions. It offers benefits like:
- Centralized data source: Keeps everyone working from a single, organized source of data
- Version control: Maintains version control and retains all file versions
- Collaboration: Improves collaboration and communication between teams
- Workflow automation: Automates design and engineering processes
- Integration: Integrates with Autodesk design tools and other CAD systems
- File storage: Stores both CAD data and non-CAD documents
- Search and retrieval: Stores file properties for quick searching and retrieval
- Revision management: Helps users get more control over their designs with revision management capabilities
What are the Vault Data APIs?
The Vault Data APIs let you programmatically access and interact with data stored on the Vault server, reducing manual effort and eliminating the need for additional desktop applications. Use the API to build integrations that automate complex or repetitive workflows, including:
- Data search and retrieval
- File operations
- Job processing
- User sessions
- Account management
- Handling items and change orders.
Who benefits from the Vault Data APIs?
One of the big benefits is connectivity. The Vault Data APIs allow developers to create extensions on top of Vault. This extends connectivity from Vault data to other tools and applications. The APIs allow you to connect to a variety of Autodesk products like:
- Vault to Fusion Manage
- Vault to Design Automation
- Vault to Autodesk Viewer
Any CAD Administrator in design, engineering, manufacturing or production is going to benefit from connecting data and automating workflows.
