Autodesk DevCon Europe Recap

DevCon

And that’s a wrap on Autodesk DevCon Europe!

This year, we brought together over 1,000 attendees from more than 90 countries at the historic Beurs van Berlage in the heart of Amsterdam. Over two packed days of sessions, workshops, networking, and inspiration, one message came through loud and clear: it all comes down to data.

Autodesk DevCon Europe by the numbers

Autodesk DevCon Europe featured a ton of activities to help you harness the power of your 3D data.

"An intense, challenging experience full of opportunities to connect with people who are building the future of the industry from technology. I had the opportunity to develop a solution proposal at the Autodesk Hackathon, where I exchanged ideas with professionals from different countries and great knowledge in APS to transform how we manage information and processes in the AEC sector. These types of events remind us that technology is no longer optional, it is a fundamental part of the evolution of construction." - Alejandro Ahmed Alvarado Lezama, BIM Coordinator, Especialista BIM

New announcements and releases

There was some exciting news at the event with three releases.

These APIs are just a few of the new things hitting Autodesk Platform Services this year to help support your workflow customization. Stay tuned for Autodesk University to hear about more things coming in our roadmap.

Data, AI, Sustainability, and digital transformation

From AI and digital transformation to climate resilience, data is critical to shaping how we design, build, and operate. In the AECO industry, data volumes are growing exponentially—some companies are seeing their storage needs multiply eightfold in just five years. Globally, nearly 150 zettabytes of data were created last year alone.

But data without context or access is just noise. The real value comes from unlocking insights—and that’s exactly where Autodesk Platform Services comes in. With the right tools, you can go beyond files, tapping into granular data to automate tasks, visualize outcomes, create seamless integrations, and leverage AI more effectively.

If you are walking away from DevCon with one key learning it should be that Autodesk is on a mission to help you unlock the value of your data.

Shelly Mujtaba, VP of Product Data, shared the three pillars of Autodesk’s data strategy.

  • Data granularity: Granular data involves breaking down files into smaller, more detailed units of data stored in the cloud. With Autodesk data models, you can share relevant data subsets rather than entire files, making faster, more targeted collaboration possible in the cloud.

  • Data interoperability: Interoperable data addresses the challenge of moving data efficiently across products and applications. Autodesk Data Exchanges are designed to do just that. Examples include Autodesk Data Connector for Power BI and the Revit Connector, supporting standards-based interoperability with IFC workflows.

  • Data accessibility: Accessible data ensures that users can get to their data when and where they need it. This facet of Autodesk's data strategy is crucial because the value of granular and interoperable data is maximized only when it is easily accessible. Combining accessible, granular data with AI can significantly boost productivity. Enhancements like the Large Model Viewer improve visualization and performance, crucial for projects with complex models and large data sets.

With these three pillars of our data strategy—granularity, interoperability, and accessibility—we're rethinking how we harness the power of data so you can drive innovation, AI and sustainability forward.

Data

“Connected data is at the center of our data strategy. We are expanding access to data so you can get it when and where you need it.” says Shelly Mujtaba, VP of Product Data, at Autodesk DevCon. Learn more about our data strategy at https://aps.autodesk.com/autodesk-data-overview

We heard Raji Arasu, Autodesk CTO and EVP of Platform Services and Emerging Technologies, discuss AI agents and plugins. “This is not just automation. This is orchestration. We are entering a world where main users are agents. AI plug-ins are self contained like LLMs or APIs. AI agents orchestrate with plug-ins to get the things done.”

3 ways you can get ready for AI agents:

  1. Expose modular skills
  2. Rewire workflows with plug-ins
  3. Be discoverable

It’s not just a change in tools, it’s a change in mindset.

A picture is worth a thousand words

I can only express so much about the event, when a photo just may do it more justice. Thank you to all who attended and all of our speakers, exhibitors, and planning partners!
