suissetec, the Swiss-Liechtenstein Building Technology Association, represents a wide network of companies in the building technology sector across Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Focused on promoting sustainable practices and innovative solutions, suissetec embarked on an ambitious project to expand and renovate their training center—the suissetec Campus in Lostorf. To co-finance parts of this construction project, they aimed to implement a comprehensive sponsorship concept. However, they faced the challenge of effectively showcasing a diverse array of sponsorship opportunities—from individual items like ping pong tables to larger facilities like the cafeteria and even building components such as water pipes. They needed a dynamic and engaging solution that would attract potential sponsors while reflecting their vision for the future of construction and sustainable architecture.
We at ioLabs AG, in collaboration with Büro für Bauökonomie AG, delivered an innovative solution that directly addressed suissetec's project goals. Utilizing Autodesk Viewer and other Autodesk technologies, we developed a comprehensive digital twin of the suissetec Campus. Uniquely, we seamlessly incorporated ESRI technology for the GIS scale, enhancing the project's scope with advanced spatial analysis capabilities—a feature that is quite unique in the industry. Leveraging the existing BIM model, we created an interactive, web-based digital representation of the campus. The Autodesk Viewer enabled us to transform the buildings into dynamic, accessible models that highlight specific areas designated for sponsorship. The digital twin includes interactive elements and QR codes, serving as a navigation aid and providing visitors with valuable insights into the campus's architecture, sustainability features, and sponsorship opportunities.
The implementation of the digital twin significantly advanced suissetec's objectives. The interactive platform effectively showcased the diverse sponsorship opportunities, resulting in increased engagement and interest from potential sponsors, thereby facilitating the co-financing of the construction project. The solution not only met but exceeded suissetec's expectations by enhancing the visitor experience and providing a compelling demonstration of their commitment to sustainable construction and innovative practices. Additionally, the digital twin's potential for future integration into educational programs and energy monitoring systems offers long-term benefits, reinforcing the campus's role as a model for sustainable design and technology integration.
Our collaboration with suissetec resulted in a groundbreaking solution that uniquely combined Autodesk Viewer with ESRI technology, setting new standards in the industry for integrating BIM and GIS at this scale. The digital twin not only addressed the immediate need to effectively showcase sponsorship opportunities but also provided a versatile platform that enhances visitor experience and supports educational initiatives. This project exemplifies how innovative technology can drive engagement and underscore a commitment to sustainable practices. As a result, suissetec solidified its position as a leader in the future of construction, demonstrating the profound impact that thoughtful integration of technology can have on achieving strategic objectives.
