Matterport is the leading spatial data company focused on digitizing and indexing the built world. The company’s 3D data platform enables anyone to scan a space and transform it into an accurate, immersive digital twin, which can be used to improve every part of the building lifecycle from planning, construction, and operations to documentation, appraisal and marketing – making every space more valuable and accessible. They are part of the Autodesk Developer Network, Autodesk's Sustainability Tech Partner Program and the ACC Integration Partner Ecosystem.
Matterport helps customers capture true-to-life site conditions in 3D for building renovation projects, but the imagery wasn’t fully integrated with construction workflows. Matterport would turn its as-built visual data into a building information model (BIM) and a computer-aided design (CAD) file, but stakeholders had to toggle between the Matterport model and Autodesk Construction Cloud to pinpoint, track, and solve issues. Matterport sought a way to merge visual and construction data in a single environment.
Matterport used Autodesk Construction Cloud APIs to integrate its 3D site imagery with construction workflows in Autodesk Build and Autodesk Docs. After syncing the scans of a project’s as-built environment, the Matterport-generated files and immersive 3D model become accessible to all stakeholders in the ACC project.
Stakeholders can immerse themselves in the site conditions, pinning issues and RFIs to exact locations on the job site. The pinned issues are created, assigned, and tracked in the ACC dashboard and the Matterport model. This process removes several manual steps, where mistakes and data loss happen. It also reduces the need for site visits, saving time and lowering the environmental impact of projects. When a project is complete, owners and future users have a comprehensive data trail that includes visual context.
Autodesk Foundation partner Build Health International (BHI) is among the first to use Matterport’s solution in end-to-end workflows. BHI is planning a NICU and maternity ward expansion at a Ugandan hospital. In a traditional design process, a project team would need at least four days on-site to capture existing conditions. With Matterport’s ultra-fast Pro3 camera and Autodesk integration, the process happened in one afternoon, and images were immediately available for the design process. As the project moves into construction, BHI expects the Matterport scans in ACC will make it easy for local teams to adopt new workflows, including management of issues and punch lists.

“In my experience, it’s very easy for everyone to use because it’s a realistic model. It allows us to be very clear with our intentions, benefiting consultants and contractors on site.” - Rene Gasana, Architect, Build Health International
“Our customers save time and money because we’re not just helping them solve problems, but we’re helping them solve problems with extremely detailed visual context that is aligned to their existing workflow. They can collaborate 24/7. They can be at their desk. Because they have that great visual context, they can solve problems in real time whether they are on site or not.“ - Preethy Vaidyanathan, VP of Product, Matterport
