Viewer Analytics

Analytics

The Forge Viewer will start collecting usage analytics not tied to a particular user in version 7.29 for the purposes of supporting and improving the Forge Viewer.

If you do not wish to participate, you may opt-out of this feature, as explained below.

What usage analytics will be collected?

The Forge Viewer will start collecting usage analytics not tied to a particular user in version 7.29 for the purposes of supporting and improving the Forge Viewer.  These analytics includes file types being viewed, domain information, and browser information such as screen size, browser, and OS versions.

Why does Autodesk need this information and how will it be used?

The analytics will help Autodesk support and improve the Forge Viewer. We are constantly adding and improving features. The Forge Viewer development team needs to understand the environment where the Forge Viewer runs, the browser, and host OS. This information will help deliver performance improvements, features and a better overall experience.

Will the analytics feature affect performance?

No. The analytics are collected in parallel, and the Forge Viewer does not depend on this feature. Even if the analytics feature is blocked for any reason, the Forge Viewer and model will load, and its features will still work.

What about older versions of the Forge Viewer?

For Version 7.16 through 7.28, unless you expressly take action to turn on usage analytics collection by using the Viewer JavaScript method Autodesk.Viewing.Private.analytics.optIn(), the Forge Viewer will not collect these usage analytics.

Version 7.15 and older will not collect these usage analytics.

All the information collected by the Forge Viewer is subject to Forge Developer Terms of Service and Autodesk Privacy Statement. Autodesk is using Mixpanel, an authorized third-party analytics provider that specializes in creating usage analytics insights.

How do I opt-out?

If you do not wish to provide usage analytics for your application to Autodesk, you can opt-out by using the Viewer JavaScript method: Autodesk.Viewing.Private.analytics.optOut(). Your participation would help us to add advanced features and improve the Viewer for you.
