At this year's Platform Leadership Forum at AU, we shared how APS is transforming to become AI-native, working with you at every stage of your development journey, from your first idea to the moment a customer finds your app.
Think of it as having a master builder partnering with you at each step, helping you explore what's possible, build better products, manage what you've shipped, and get it in front of the people, and agents, who need it. Below, we walk through each stage of the journey and what's new.
Explore: from problem statement to validated idea
Every build starts with a question: can APS solve this, and is it worth the investment? Until now, answering that meant digging through docs and piecing together an approach yourself.
Now you can just ask Autodesk Assistant on APS. Describe the problem you’re trying to solve, and Assistant will map out how to solve it with APS, including which APIs to use and how they work together. It also surfaces the potential business value and shows you who’s already building similar solutions. You walk away with a solution sketch and a concrete basis for deciding whether it’s worth the investment.
Build: your idea, working in minutes
The new APS Workflow MCP transforms how you build with APS. Today, once you've decided to build, the work still lands on you reading through API references, understanding dependencies between them, and sequencing calls correctly to get to your first working application.
The APS Workflow MCP changes that. It understands the full landscape of APS APIs, including their capabilities, dependencies, and how they work together. Configure APS Workflow MCP in an AI coding client of your choice, state your intent, and it helps assemble a working app for you. Now you can spend more time reviewing, refining, and pushing your app further than you would have had time for otherwise. This MCP is in development, and you can sign up for the APS Workflow MCP private beta to shape the experience with us.
Manage: less overhead, more oversight
We also previewed how we are making app portfolio management conversational, so you can spend less time managing your apps and more time building. Instead of navigating multiple admin screens, you will in the future be able to talk directly to Assistant on APS to see your apps by usage or environment and take action, like retiring apps you no longer need, right from the conversation.
Distribute: reach customers where they already are
We also showed how agentic discovery will change how customers and agents find the right tools in the moment of need. Today, Autodesk Assistant on the Design and Make Marketplace can converse with customers to narrow in on the most relevant apps for the outcome they want to accomplish.
In the future, this same discovery experience will be available on Assistant within Autodesk products where customers work. It will also expand from discovery to Assistant integrating apps and MCPs from the marketplace directly in workflows to accomplish outcomes defined by customers.
More APS capabilities
We also introduced Fusion Compute MCP in public beta, extending intent-driven building to Fusion design work in any MCP-compatible coding client. Using plain language, you can build a design from scratch, fine-tune an existing one, or build automations that connect design and enterprise data. Join the Fusion Compute MCP public beta
New compute options for the Automation API are now in private beta. This includes the ability to flag time-sensitive jobs for prioritized processing, and dedicated high-memory compute will be available for large Revit jobs. These enhancements will help you build and run your automations with greater confidence.
