Online Training

Autodesk Forge Online Training & Learning

Are you interested in getting started with the Autodesk Forge platform development, perhaps in a more interactive, guided way? Or maybe you already have experience with our platform, and are just interested in honing your Forge skills? If so, come and join us for another series of Forge Training webinars from April 13th until April 16th. During these days, our dev advocates will guide your through the development of sample applications (using Node.js or .NET) leveraging different parts of Forge, and answer your questions along the way as you develop these applications yourself.

Autodesk Forge Training Agenda

Each of the 4 days will focus on a specific learning topic:

  • Tuesday, April 13th: Building Forge applications for viewing your 2D and 3D designs
  • Wednesday, April 14th: Building Forge applications for viewing your designs in BIM 360 or Fusion Teams
  • Thursday, April 15th: Extending the Forge Viewer and adding dashboards to your application
  • Friday, April 16th: Automatically processing your designs using the Design Automation service

For each topic there will be a full-day class in the CET time zone and another full-day class in the EST time zone, so that you can choose the time that works best for you. On top of that, classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday will run in two parallel tracks, one using Node.js, and one using .NET, so you can choose a language you're most comfortable with.

Individual classes will consist of 4 live sessions, each approx. 30min long, spread throughout the day like so:

  GMT (UTC+0) PST (UTC-8)
Session 1 8:00am - 8:30am 8:00am - 8:30am
Session 2 10:00am - 10:30am 10:00am - 10:30am
Session 3 12:00pm - 12:30pm 12:00pm - 12:30pm
Session 4 2:00pm - 2:30pm 2:00pm - 2:30pm

IMPORTANT: originally the US sessions were planned to take place from 9:00am EST to 3:30pm EST, but to accommodate for the west coast as well, the US sessions will run from 8:00am PST to 2:30pm PST instead.

This way you will have enough time to implement the steps as demonstrated by the teacher in the previous session, and at the beginning of the next session you can always ask for help if you run into any troubles.

Homework to enhance Forge Learning

To make sure you can get the best out of this Autodesk learning experience, we recommend that you have a Forge account and a Forge application ready: https://forge.autodesk.com/en/docs/oauth/v2/tutorials/create-app.

If you're interested in accessing designs in your existing BIM 360 project, we also recommend that you provision your Forge application's access to BIM 360. Note that you may also need to send an email to the BIM 360 team to have your BIM 360 account switched to a developer one: https://forge.autodesk.com/en/docs/bim360/v1/tutorials/getting-started/get-access-to-account.

We assume some basic understanding of web (both client and server) development. If you are new to this area and would like some initial pointers, try these:
