Bringing Fusion onto Claude for Creative Work

Claude side by side with Autodesk Fusion

AI makes it easier than ever to turn ideas into something real. But in design and engineering, moving from intent to an editable, manufacturable design still takes time and manual work.

At Autodesk, our approach to AI is simple: help move work forward—whether that happens inside our products or in the tools our customers already use.

With Fusion, that looks like two things:

  • Autodesk Assistant brings AI directly into Fusion, helping users understand context and take action in their workflows

  • Fusion Model Context Protocols (MCPs) lets third-party AI systems connect to Fusion, enabling them to access design context and perform actions securely.

Today’s announcement builds on that second path – bringing Fusion into Claude through MCP as part of Anthropic's Claude for Creative Work launch.

Autodesk Fusion MCP connects Claude directly to the Fusion environment for Fusion subscribers, so ideas can move beyond the prompt and into real, structured design work.

Design, inside the conversation

People already use tools like Claude to explore ideas, solve problems, and write code. Now, design is part of that same workflow.

Unlike text or code, design work is built on geometry, constraints and relationships. The Fusion MCP gives Claude guided access to that structure, so users can participate in the design process while execution remains securely within Fusion.

With the Autodesk Fusion MCP, you can:
• Turn natural language into design actions
• Iterate without starting from scratch
• Automate repetitive modeling steps
• Move faster from idea to manufacturable output

From ideas to execution

AI is powerful at pattern recognition and coordination, but generating an idea is not the same as producing something real.

Manufacturable outcome requires engineering rigor, precision, and domain data and expertise built over decades. That level of fidelity remains grounded in Fusion.

As an open standard, MCPs bridge the two: letting AI understand context and take action across tools safely, with defined boundaries so you can move from idea to execution without switching contexts.

Built with your data in mind

Connecting Fusion with Claude doesn’t change how your data is handled.

You stay in control of what’s accessed and how it’s used, with protections aligned to Autodesk’s privacy, security, and product standards.

Looking ahead

This is an early step in a broader shift toward a more open ecosystem where Autodesk software connects into the tools our customers already use.

We’re working toward a world where:
• Design tools are accessible from anywhere you work
• AI can safely take action inside real workflows
• Ideas move from concept to production without friction

Autodesk Fusion is there wherever it begins.
